About Us
The 39th District Sobriety Court and the Sobriety Today Our Purpose (S.T.O.P.) organization are working together in tandem. The Court provides valuable tools such as group and individual counseling, weekly performance reviews of participants with their respective and assigned judges while simultaneously implementing extensive drug and alcohol testing during this intense 52-week sobriety court program.
ABOUT SOBRIETY TODAY OUR PURPOSE (S.T.O.P.)
Sobriety Today Our Purpose (S.T.O.P.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial support and assistance to eligible participants that are in good standing with the 39th District Sobriety Court.
The Sobriety Court Program costs are generating additional financial expenses to participants’ standard operating life expenses due to alcohol and drug testing fees, vehicle alcohol interlock device fees and other court obligations. Often court participants reach and exceed their financial limits and in times like that, they may contact their probation officer and complete a request form, asking the S.T.O.P. organization for financial support and assistance. The S.T.O.P. board members will discuss the respective request and vote accordingly to approve or reject each and every request on a case by case basis. S.T.O.P. provides additional funding for those participants who, during the complete program period, need medical and dental treatment, transportation and/or securing temporary housing and utilities.
The main goal and purpose of the S.T.O.P. organization is to financially assist and support a successful and meaningful sobriety program completion by the participants.

ABOUT THE SOBRIETY COURT
Education vs. Incarceration!
The 39th District Sobriety Court provides repeat alcohol offenders with a once in a lifetime opportunity to turn their lives around and reinvent themselves by learning sober techniques and creating permanent new sober habits by utilizing tools provided and monitored by the court. This educational journey is an additional benefit of not being incarcerated, but instead of being an active and productive member of society. The Sobriety Court is completely engaged in the process while the successful program completion is solely and entirely up to each program participant, who must adhere to very strict requirements, rules and regulations. The national statistics behind sobriety and drug courts show a higher success rate and lower recidivism rather than just the usual probation and/or incarceration.
The purpose of the 39th District Sobriety Court is to teach each participant new sober values and help create new sober habits and attitudes. Therefore the foundation for a lifelong super fantastic and continuing sober lifestyle has been established. And this, in return, ultimately “Saves Lives”.
